Good morning, it is Tuesday, December the 18th.

Canadian high pressure continues to dominate much of the eastern portion of the United States bringing sunshine and dry conditions to the region. As it edges closer our winds have now turned out of the north to northwest meaning temperatures today will be noticeably cooler in the middle to upper 40s. Sunshine remains in the forecast through tomorrow ahead of an increase in clouds as our next system arrives.

Expect lowering and thickening clouds Thursday morning leading to rain developing by early afternoon. That rain will be heavy at times and it will likely bring another thorough soaking to our area before tapering off by midday Friday. The rain is accompanied by another warm up as the storm center warm-sectors us with a track to our northwest. Highs in the lower to middle 60s Thursday and Friday.

A quick note, astronomical winter begins on Friday at 5:23 PM EST.
