Despite the passage of a 'cold' front, we aren't all that much cooler today, maybe a degree or two. However, what is a little bit more noticeable is the somewhat less humid air being driven in under a northerly light breeze. I know, it's not that much of an improvement but it is the best we'll do over the coming days.
Those winds turn back southerly tonight into tomorrow and the heat is back on, likely sticking around straight into the weekend. On top of the heat, we are looking at a prolonged dry spell as well. No appreciable rain chances until Sunday evening at the earliest and even that chance is rather low. Air temperatures this weekend will max out in the lower 90s, dewpoints approaching 70 will push our heat index values north of 100° in many locations.
A backdoor cold front looks to make a run at our region late Sunday, as it does it will break the heat and also bring our only chance at some showers overnight into early Monday. The 'cool down' behind the front is only temporary because by the middle of next week more heat is in the forecast.
