Today marked the 23rd day so far this year that we recorded high temperatures at 90° or hotter at Norfolk International Airport. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you see it we have many more hot and humid days ahead.
Expect similar temperatures tomorrow along with dew points staying in the upper 60s to lower 70s. This will mean that what you read on the thermometer will actually feel a good 3-6° hot with the heat index.
Afternoon storm threat is very low both for today and into Thursday. Storms enter back into the forecast as we head into the weekend.
By this weekend the heat gets turned up a bit more. Highs are forecast to climb into the lower to middle 90s along with slightly higher dew points, this means heat index values will surpass 100° in most locations. There doesn't seem to be any break in the heat at least into the middle of next week, stay cool!
