Emergency alerts via text, email or phone directly from cities and emergency management agencies are an easy way to keep up with local impacts.

Many cities and localities in our region want to keep you updated with what's happening as Hurricane Dorian rolls through our area.

Norfolk -- The city will post updates on their website and social media pages (Facebook and Twitter) and will send out notifications via NN Alert (sign up now to receive alerts). Citizens can also call our 311 Contact Center at 311 or 757-933-2311. 

Virginia Beach -- Sign up for VBAlert to get emergency alerts from the City of Virginia Beach via text message and/or email. Simply text VBAlert to 67283 or go online. Click here to register. 

Portsmouth -- Call 757-398-0682.

Chesapeake -- You can sign up for Chesapeake's alert system by clicking here to receive alerts via text, e-mail or phone. You can also keep up with any updates through their Facebook and Twitter pages.

Newport News -- The city will post updates on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages and will send out notifications via NN Alert (sign up now to receive alerts). Citizens can also call our 311 Contact Center at 311 or 757-933-2311. 

Hampton -- You can sign up for emergency alerts for the city of Hampton by clicking here. You can receive alerts through text and e-mail. You can also stay updated through their Facebook and Twitter pages.

Suffolk -- Suffolk On the Alert: Residents can sign up for alerts delivered primarily via email. Categories include Traffic Updates, Parks & Recreation, Public Utilities-water outages, Public Works (trash collection), and Special Events. Residents can select what topics are of interest to them for the latest information. 

Gloucester -- You can keep up with updates on Gloucester's website and sign up for alerts through your phone.
