CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC ) -- State police identified two people who died in a car crash Sunday afternoon along Route 58.

Brandon O'Neil Riddick, 21, and Kendra Fitchett, 18, were killed when their car went off of the highway east of Snowden Street and hit a tree.

"She would always be there for me when I needed her, and I loved her with all my," said Destiny Haskins, unable to finish the sentence about her older sister.

Fitchett graduated with honors from Indian River High School in June.

She planned to attend college and eventually become a funeral director at her family's business in Chesapeake.

"She was a joy to be around. When you were around Kendra, she was bubbly, great personality, brilliant young lady. She was what you wanted your child to be," shared Fitchett's uncle, Michael Baker.

Fitchett's family told 13News Now that Riddick was her boyfriend and that he and she were on their way home from church when the crash happened.

Riddick was a former Oscar Smith football player, he graduated in 2012.
