Firefighter hurt battling vacant house fire

Carrollton firefighters were called out to a vacant home in the 23000 block of Kings Way Cove shortly before 11 p.m.

CARROLLTON, Va. — A firefighter was hurt Sunday night battling a fire on Kings Cove Way in Carrollton, not far from the James River Bridge.

Firefighters were called out to a vacant home in the 23000 block of Kings Way Cove shortly before 11 p.m. Arriving units found the single-story residence fully engulfed in smoke and flames.

According to Carrollton Volunteer Fire Chief Tim Nunez, one firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze. 

Nunez said Virginia State Police would investigate the cause of the fire.
