NORFOLK, Va. — A tractor-trailer crash closed all east lanes on I-64 near Tidewater Drive Wednesday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, the driver, 43-year-old Anthony Eley, was charged with reckless driving.

VSP said that their investigations reveal that the tractor-trailer ran off the roadway and struck the jersey walls that surround the Tidewater Drive exit area around 7:25 a.m. The crash also caused a vehicle fire.

Due to the impact of the truck striking the wall, the tractor-trailer's fuel tank was breached.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue contained the fuel spill and said that Eley was transported with life-threatening injuries.
