Man seriously hurt in Portsmouth hit-and-run

Portsmouth police are looking for a Nissan Altima that hit a man and left the scene Friday night.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth police are asking the public for help in finding a car involved in a hit-and-run that seriously hurt a man.

Around 10:17 p.m., police responded to a call of a man hit by a car at the intersection of High Street and Jamestown Avenue.

Officers found the man seriously injured and he was taken to a local hospital.

The car is possibly a 2013-2016 medium blue metallic Nissan Altima, police said.

The Altima is believed to be driving eastbound on High Street after it hit the man.

The car has damage to the driver's side bumper and damage to the driver's side view mirror with the plastic cover missing, police said.
