Several vehicles catch fire at recycling facility in James City County

James City County firefighters responded to a report of several vehicles on fire at a metal recycling business in Toano shortly after 10 a.m., Battalion Chief Alton Catlett said.

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va., (WVEC) — Several salvaged vehicles at a metal recycling facility caught on fire Wednesday morning, a fire official said.

James City County firefighters responded to a report of several vehicles on fire at a metal recycling business in Toano shortly after 10 a.m., Battalion Chief Alton Catlett said.

A fire in a stack of salvaged vehicles was reported at the facility in the 8900 block of Richmond Road.

James City Bruton Volunteer and James City County Fire departments arrived to find heavy fire involving multiple vehicles that were being processed for recycling.

The fire was brought under control shortly after 11 a.m. There were no injuries and no damages to buildings.

Fire marshals from James City County are investigating the incident.

Units from the New Kent County Fire Department and York County Department of Fire And Life Safety assisted.
