Eugene Daniel joined the 13News Now team in October 2020 as a reporter and multi-skilled journalist.
Before coming to Hampton Roads, Eugene spent several years in Peoria, Illinois as a reporter and, eventually, an evening anchor for CBS affiliate WMBD News. In Central Illinois, Eugene covered a variety of issues including local and state politics and launched the stations 4 p.m. newscast providing live, in-depth interviews with candidates and community leaders on key topics facing the community.
The Illinois Broadcasting Association awarded Eugene for his work surrounding sports-related concussions and the development of safer football helmets.
Eugene is a self-proclaimed “southern gentleman” born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. He is a proud graduate of Elon University in North Carolina and loves working in the community, especially mentoring children and teens. On top of reporting, Eugene volunteered as a Young Adult Coordinator at his church in Peoria, working with college students and people ages 19 to 29.
