Newport News business receives random act of kindness

Fish Window Cleaning gives back to the community by showing how a simple gesture can impact others.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A Newport News business was surprised with a random act of kindness on Friday.

Each year, Fish Window Cleaning gives back to the community by showing how a simple gesture can impact others. And this time, the company gave back to Eggleston Wellness Center

"It feels wonderful," said Paul Atkinson Jr., vice president of operations at Eggleston. "They've done a great thing for us. They've selected us as a charitable organization recipient for window cleaning."

Isha Edmonds, program supervisor at Eggleston, shared similar sentiments.

"It was definitely a shock and a surprise," said Edmonds. "It says a lot for Fishing to come out and represent a kind gesture to come to clean our windows. It makes me feel good, and it also shows as an example to our individuals that they can also do nice things, random acts of kindness out in our community as well."

Deborah Foret, the general manager of Fish Window Cleaning, said they try to regularly give back to the community. In the past, the company has offered to clean windows of animal shelters, retirement homes and food banks.

"It makes me feel good that I can help someone out," said Lawrence Whitaker, an employee at Fish Window Cleaning. "The best thing about working here is you get to brighten someone's day every day."

Random Act of Kindness Day is observed on Feb. 17. But there's never a bad time to make somebody's day a little brighter.
