Tim Kaine visits minority-owned businesses

Tim Kaine visited Get Well Soon Spa to lead the conversation on how to bring more opportunities and jobs to the Commonwealth area.

NORFOLK, Va. — Senator Tim Kaine stopped by a few minority-owned small businesses Monday in Virginia Beach.

He is leading the conversation on ways small businesses can bring more job opportunities and impact economic growth in the Commonwealth.

13News Now caught up with Kaine at Get Well Soon Spa in Norfolk.

"I'm here at Get Well Spa because they're in the wellness space and I'm on the health committee in the Senate," Kaine said.

Kaine dived into a discussion by asking about the connection between wellness and overall health.

"What are we hearing about health and mental health in the aftermath of Covid?"

Kaine discussed ways can we do better as a society to help people embrace wellness strategies and prevent illnesses and mental health challenges.

He talked to business owners about problems they're facing and solutions that are successful.

" I think small businesses post Covid are facing some really different realities; I want to hear what's working and what are challenges,"  Kaine said.

Kaine stopped by three other minority-owned small businesses.
