75-year-old Yorktown man dies in Route 17 crash

A 75-year-old man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 on Monday.

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- A 75-year-old man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 on Monday.

Around 5 p.m. State Police were called to Route 17 north of Goosley Road to investigate a 3-vehicle crash. On the scene, everyone involved in the crash was out of there vehicles complaining of minor injuries.

A 75-year-old man was traveling northbound on Route 17 in a 2007 Lexus when he tried to turn across the southbound lanes toward Colonial Parkway. The driver, Gregory Hicks, failed to yield the right of way, and he was t-boned by a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander. The Lexus spun out of control and hit a 2015 Dodge Caravan that was stopped at the stop sign.

Hicks, the driver of the Chevrolet, and two other passengers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

However, Hicks died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the accident. He was from Yorktown and his family members were notified.
