Stuff the Bus returns to Hampton Roads: 'Every toy counts'

"Hampton Roads we're calling on you to give kids in need the best Christmas ever," a release for the event reads.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The giving is underway all week long for the Stuff the Bus campaign happening across Hampton Roads.

The Salvation Army and Marine Corps Reserves teamed up with Z104 and Shaggy for the event. The organizations are looking for unwrapped toy donations for kids in need.

"Hampton Roads we're calling on you to give kids in need the best Christmas ever," a release for the event reads. "Every toy counts, so come on out!"

Volunteers told 13News Now that the event is all about the kids.

"It's giving back to the community," said Stormie Henley, one of the volunteers. "It's giving back to the kids that can't, the mommas and dads that aren't able to supply things. I've been there when I was a kid, so I will always give back."

The campaign is running from Monday, Dec. 5 through Friday, Dec. 9. From 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day, Shaggy will be greeting those dropping off toys.

"Hampton Roads is a community of giving," said Shaggy. "I'm just so proud to say with 18 years and all these buses, there's a reason why we continue to do this, there's a reason why I still do this -- and it's because it works. People know it's taking care of our own people."

"There's something we can do with anything that you have," Shaggy explained.

Families looking to request toys can visit the Marine Corps Reserve's website here.

Anyone wanting to donate is asked to bring an unwrapped toy to one of the following Walmart locations:
