1 dead after Virginia Beach triple shooting on Christmas Eve

The Virginia Beach Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Riverbend and Lakecrest roads shortly after midnight.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — One person is dead and two others are injured after an overnight shooting in Virginia Beach on Christmas Eve, authorities confirmed to 13News Now.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Riverbend and Lakecrest roads.

There, officers found two men who had been shot. One of them died from his injuries at the scene while the other was rushed to a hospital where he remains in "critical condition," according to VBPD.

Police said a third person later arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds related to the same shooting. There's no word on the severity of their injuries.

Neighbors told 13News Now they heard gunshots but didn't know the circumstances of the shooting.

No arrests have been made at this time and police did not release a suspect description.
