HAMPTON, Va. — A Yorktown man is facing charges after police say he was shot trying to steal someone's car in Hampton.

The Hampton Police Division said 22-year-old Kenneth Maddox Jr. carjacked a man at gunpoint on Commander Shepard Boulevard early on Saturday morning. Less than two hours later, police said Maddox tried to carjack another man in the 200 block of Marcella Road.

Minutes later, Maddox arrived at Sentara CarePlex on Coliseum Drive, suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting.

Police said Maddox is now charged with two counts of carjacking and two counts of the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
