Man from Newport News accused of using 'KiK' app to get pornographic pictures of children

The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office said 30-year-old Jeffrey Hood looked at pornographic images on the social media app then saved them.

YORK COUNTY, Va. — Sheriff's deputies said a man used the app KiK to get pornographic images of children, then saved them to a Dropbox account.

Jeffrey David Hood, 30, faces several counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

Shelly Ward, spokeswoman for the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office, said deputies received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force on May 19, 2017. The tip was regarding possible child exploitation. The investigation led them to Hood, and on February 13, 2020, deputies worked with officers from the Newport News Police Department to arrest Hood at his home in Newport News.

Deputies took Hood to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail where he was being held without bond.
