VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — In honor of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, hundreds of runners are preparing for the Sentara Cancer Network’s Don’t Sit On Colon Cancer 5K/Survivor Walk.

The 11th annual race aims to raise awareness about colorectal cancer prevention and honor survivors.

Nearly 400 runners will be dressed in costumes and team outfits, participating in a fun, family-friendly race/walk on April 14.

"The race starts and finishes on the campus of Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, routing through Princess Anne Commons Gateway Park and around the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater, for a truly unique race experience," according to Sentara's website.

Race proceeds will go toward the Sentara Cancer Program Fund.
