HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WVEC) -- Kroger Co. has announced that it has renovated and expanded the produce departments at four Hampton Roads stores.

The nation's largest traditional grocery retailer has anchored the produce departments with brand new market-style slant-top tables that display fresh produce as well as refrigerated produce cases with new misting systems.

These changes have allowed Kroger to expand its selection of organic produce, part of the grocer's overall strategy to continue to grow its lineup of natural foods.

"We're excited to welcome shoppers to an inviting, easy-to-navigate space where they can shop for the freshest fruits and vegetables at low Kroger prices," said Noelle Motley, spokesperson for Kroger's Mid-Atlantic Division. "Capital investment in our stores is one way Kroger is constantly working to maintain the outstanding in-store experience our customers know and love."

The location are:

  • 4625 Shore Drive
  • 1800 Republic Drive
  • 975 Providence Square
  • 3901 Holland Road

Kroger invested more than $4 million dollars to remodel produce departments in 51 stores throughout its Mid-Atlantic Division, which includes North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, eastern Tennessee, Kentucky and southern Ohio.
