Chesapeake truck driver accused of road rage shooting in Florida

Marion County Sheriff's Department said Dylan Belleastin was arrested and charged after truck cab cam footage obtained showed him firing at another driver.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A truck driver from Chesapeake has been arrested and charged after allegedly shooting at another vehicle during a road rage incident in Florida, the Marion County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) said.

MCSO said 43-year-old Dylan Belleastin was arrested and charged with shooting a missile into a vehicle, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, and displaying a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The Sheriff's Office said on Sunday, March 3, a deputy responded to Love's Travel Stop in Ocala, Florida, for a report of shots fired during a road rage incident.

The victim told the deputy he was driving a semi-truck southbound on Interstate 75 when Belleastin allegedly threw a water bottle at his truck. The victim pulled over at first to confront Belleastin, but decided against doing so and drove away.

Belleastin allegedly followed the victim and pulled alongside him again, then fired several shots. After rapidly decelerating to avoid being hit, the victim returned fire toward Belleatin out of fear for his own life.

Belleastin drove to the Love's Travel Stop briefly, then continued southbound on I-75.

The deputy reportedly obtained information to identify Belleatin and received dash camera footage from Belleastin's semi-truck cab. The footage showed him shooting at the victim two separate times, retrieving another handgun and pointing it at the victim without firing.

Belleastin was located on Wednesday in Ocala by deputies and the U.S. Marshal Service agents. He was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he remains without bond.
