HAMPTON, Va. — Members of the Hampton Police Division remembered former K9 Officer Saber on Monday. The division posted on its Facebook page that Saber died, four months after he retired.
Saber was on the job for 7 years. In that time he helped find a missing person who planned to hurt herself. He also was involved in more than 230 K9 tracks and more than 60 drug arrests.
Within two hours of the post going up on Facebook, dozens of people shared their condolences. Among them was his handler's mother who wrote:
RIP Grandpup! We loved you and we’re so proud of you and your hard work! You were an awesome partner with our son. You are missed Saber! 🐾❤️ Nana and Papa
