Hampton Police arrest man connected to shooting that left two dead and one injured

The Hampton Police Division has announced the arrest of one person in connection with an early morning shooting that left two dead and one injured.

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) — Hampton Police Division has arrested one person in connection with a shooting that killed two men and injured a third in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 10.

Police arrested 29-year-old Jazz Kwame Grant of Hampton on November 10 in connection to the shooting in the 900 block of North King Street. He has been charged with one count Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Grant is still in custody at the Hampton City Jail.

There have been no additional arrests made in this case and the case remains under investigation.

Around 4:53 a.m., Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to two walk-in gunshot victims at Sentara CarePlex Hospital, police said.

The first victim, Eric Caesar Witherspoon Jr., 24, of Newport News, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The second victim was treated for injury and has been released.

At 5:28 a.m., Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to a shooting in the 900 block of North King Street, police said.

Arriving officers found a man inside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Police identified him as Treviyon Lamonta Hill, 27, of Smithfield.

Originally police were investigating these cases as two separate homicides, but further investigation revealed the first two men were also shot at the scene.

The motive and circumstances surrounding both incidents remain under investigation.
