HAMPTON -- Police are looking for a suspect who recently robbed two convenience stores wearing a gorilla mask.

In the middle of the night on October 3 and on October 7, police responded to two 7-eleven robberies -- one located in the 400 block of Oyster Point Road and the other in the first block of Beach Road.

According to police, in both incidents the suspect entered the business, displayed a firearm and demanded cash.

The clerk at the Newport News location told 13News Now at first, he thought it was a joke when he saw the mask.

The suspect ran from both businesses with cash. There were no customers inside and no injuries.

The suspect is 5'11' to 6'1, about 180 pounds and was last seen wearing a black gorilla mask, black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The Hampton and Newport News police departments are working together to identify and locate the suspect.
