HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- It was a dream come true for three local women featured on the ABC television show "Shark Tank," as they hosted their grand opening of The Mango Mango: A Simply Panache Bistro in Hampton New Years day.
The sharks loved their mango preserves, but the women failed to strike a deal. However, that hasn't stopped them.
"We always thought that we would have a restaurant. The mango preserves just gave us the push to do it," said Lakesha Brown-Renfro.
This was a dream come true for the trio. Their vision supported by the city of Hampton to help revitalize the section of Phoebus.
"It's exciting to be on the ground floor of a revitalization of this area to bring people back to Phoebus to let them know what was sleepy for a little bit, now it's alive and thriving," said Tanecia Willis.
The entrepreneurs converted an old building for their headquarters, production, the restaurant and event planning. They also opened a nail salon around the corner.
"This is the culmination of all our dreams to have all of our businesses in one place," said Nzinga Teule-Hekima. Their businesses employ about 30 people altogether.
