HAMPTON, Va. — Power has been restored after thousands of Dominion Energy customers found themselves in the dark in Hampton on Friday morning.

The outage happened in the Wythe area of the city, Dominion Energy confirms. A spokesperson with Dominion said a third-party crane came into contact with power lines around 7:45 a.m. Hampton police said the accident was in the 1900 block of West Pembroke Avenue.

Nearly 4,000 customers on the peninsula were impacted for about an hour. Crews with Dominion worked on the repairs and by 10 a.m., all but about 400 customers had their power restored. By 10:30 that number was down to only 10 across the city.
