NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A woman has been shot in Newport News Thursday morning, police say.
Newport News police say that they reported to the 300 block of Heacox Lane around 3:30 a.m. for a report of a gunshot victim.
When they arrived they found a woman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police say the incident appears to be accidental. One person who is known to the victim is in custody.
Detectives are investigating and reviewing the shooting.
