NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Officers were investigating a suspicious body on Monday in Newport News.
Around 8:50 a.m., police officers were sent to the 900-block of 27th Street. On the scene, a man with one gunshot wound was found.
The man was pronounced dead around 9 a.m. Officers are investigating the incident as a homicide.
The man was later identified as 49-year-old Christopher Jeroid Alston from Hampton.
No suspect information has been released at this time, and police continue to investigate.
