CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) — A house fire displaced a family of five and four pets Saturday afternoon, a Chesapeake fire official said.
Firefighters were called to the 300 block of Quail Meadow Court around 12:49 p.m.
Fire crews found a two-story home with nothing visible from the outside, but inside firefighters found the laundry room/bathroom on fire.
Crews were successful in preventing the fire from spreading to other parts of the home.
Firefighters rescued and revived 3 cats and 1 dog.

"The quick actions of firefighters and their knowledge of how to use specialized animal oxygen mask are credited with the animals expected survival," PIO Lt. Anthony P. Barakat said.
Significant smoke and water damage resulted from the fire.
Occupants were alerted of the fire by their smoke detectors, Barakat said.
No one was injured. The fire is under investigation.
