Colonna's Shipyard crane collapses on USS Gunston Hall, injuring two sailors

Two sailors were injured when a Colonna's Shipyard crane boom fell onto the USS Gunston Hall.

NORFOLK, Va. — A crane boom collapsed on a Navy ship at a Norfolk private shipyard Thursday morning.

Around 7:05 a.m., two sailors were injured when a Colonna's Shipyard crane boom fell onto the ship USS Gunston Hall, Navy Public Affairs Officer Colleen O’Rourke said.

The sailors were treated for minor injuries.

O’Rourke said, "an initial damage assessment is currently being conducted."  

The Gunston Hall is in dry dock at the shipyard for maintenance since May.
