Elizabeth River Ferry service fully restored in time for Memorial Day weekend

Hampton Roads Transit announced that service for the Elizabeth River Ferry will be fully restored by May 24 after being out of service for several weeks.

NORFOLK, Va. — After being out of service for several weeks, Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) announced that the Elizabeth River Ferry service will be fully restored by Friday, May 24 at 5:30 a.m.

This comes after the City of Norfolk paused the service to build a temporary access ramp to the ferry dock at Waterside. Now that construction is complete, ferry service will resume just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Now that full service is resuming, the Harbor Park ferry stop will revert to its regular service and only operate before and after Norfolk Tides baseball home games.

The extended summer ferry schedule will begin on Memorial Day, including 15-minute service frequencies on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons.

You can find more information on times, fares, and the service map at go.hrt.com.
