Man charged with murder in 21-year-old's shooting death in Norfolk

Police identified the victim as 21-year-old Darryl L. Williams, Jr. The victim's family says he leaves behind a one-year-old baby.

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk police have arrested and charged a man with murder after he allegedly gunned down a 21-year-old man in Norfolk.

Juwan M. Jones, 22, faces a second-degree murder charge and another charge of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Officers were called to the 800 block of East Princess Anne Road around 11:50 p.m.

They found a man with multiple gunshot wounds by the Lexington Park Apartments and declared him dead at the scene.

Forensic teams and family members stayed at the scene for hours.

Williams' family didn't want to go on camera but told 13News Now that he leaves behind a one-year-old baby.

Neighbors later woke to the news. Some people like Jason Mitchell said it’s an all too common sight.

“People are always shooting around here," said Mitchell. “A lot of people don’t understand we’ve got drugs, alcohol. Everything you can think of, and then some around here.”
