Electric car fire spread to Norfolk home, displacing 4

Norfolk Fire-Rescue says crews were called to a fire in the 8500 block of Troy Street around 6:30 a.m. When they arrived, crews saw an electric vehicle on fire.

NORFOLK, Va. — Four people were displaced after an electric car fire spread to their home on Tuesday morning.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue said crews were called to a house fire in the 8500 block of Troy Street around 6:30 a.m. When they arrived, crews saw an electric vehicle on fire in the driveway of a home. 

The fire spread to the house, but everyone inside was able to get out safely.

Crews attacked the fire from the inside the home and extinguished the flames with "minimal interior damage."

No injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting the four people who were displaced.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
