Norfolk kitchen fire sends one person to the hospital

Fire crews found smoke coming from the kitchen area of the home and the fire was quickly contained, but there was also some heat damage.

NORFOLK, Va (WVEC) – One person was taken to Sentara Norfolk General hospital after a house fire that started in the kitchen.

Fire crews responded to the 1100 block of Clarence Street around 8 p.m. They found smoke coming from the home and the fire was quickly contained. There was also some heat damage throughout the home, Battalion Chief Brandon Dommel wrote in a press release.

Everyone inside the home mad it out safely. The condition of the person taken to the hospital was not provided, but Dommel said they were admitted for an evaluation.

It is unclear if the occupants of the home will be displaced.
