NRHA opening its Housing Choice Voucher for homeless, disabled and low-income applicants

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) is opening its Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) waitlist for the following applicants. 

Non-elderly individuals with disabilities who are transitioning out of institutional or other separated settings, are at serious risk of institutionalization or homelessness, or are homeless. 

The HCV program is a rental assistance program that assists extremely low-income and very low-income families with their rent in the private market.

The waitlist will open on Monday, March 11, at 9 a.m. and close on Monday, March 18, at 4 p.m.

Applicants for this waitlist may qualify if their income is 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). Current residents of an assisted housing community may qualify if their income is up to 80 percent of the AMI. 

Applications are available online only and can be accessed by computer or smartphone at nrha.myhousing.com.
