Third man sought in Military Highway homicide now in custody

Police successfully apprehended a third man wanted for murder in the shooting death of a man on Military Highway.

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk police released an update regarding the search for a third man said to be connected to an ongoing homicide investigation.

Authorities took Gary L. Drew, 26, into custody Monday evening. Drew was wanted for second-degree murder, mob assault, abduction, conspiracy and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony after a fatal shooting off Military Highway that left one man dead Saturday morning.

Police arrested two other people in connection with the shooting over the weekend.

Dashawn T. Bryant and Patrick M. Barnes, were both charged with second-degree murder in the death of Michael McGregor.

McGregor, of Norfolk, was shot and killed around 12:50 a.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of N. Military Highway.

Bryant, 26, is charged with second-degree murder, mob assault, abduction, conspiracy and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony

Barnes, 26, is charged with second-degree murder, mob assault, abduction, conspiracy and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony

Bryant and Barnes are being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Police said the three men are known gang members and detectives believe this homicide is gang-related.
