Two arrested for murder of Wawa employee in Norfolk

Police said Andre Brinkley and Shonquial Hamlin robbed and shot Helena Stiglets outside of the Wawa where she worked. Stiglets died at the hospital.

NORFOLK, Va. — Detectives with the Norfolk Police Department arrested two men for the murder of Helena Stiglets.

Officers arrested Andre Brinkley, 20, and Shonquial Hamlin, 21, Monday. Brinkley and Hamlin face charges of Second-degree Murder, Robbery, Carjacking, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.

Just after 11 p.m. on Sunday police received a call about a shooting in the parking lot of Wawa at 975 E. Little Creek Road.

When police arrived, they found 38-year-old Helena Stiglets suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Medics took Stiglets to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Brinkley and Hamlin are being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Brinkley is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
