Woman 'accidentally' grazed by bullet in Norfolk, man arrested and charged, police say

Norfolk police say they responded to Bapaume Avenue around on Sunday for a report of a gunshot victim. Officers found a woman with a non-life-threatening wound.

NORFOLK, Va. — A woman was shot in Norfolk late Sunday afternoon, police say.

Norfolk police say they responded to the 3100 block of Bapaume Avenue around 4:20 p.m. for a report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they found a woman with a non-life-threatening graze wound to her leg. 

Police said the investigation revealed that the shooting was accidental. Marquis Brown, 34, of Norfolk was arrested and charged with reckless handling, receiving stolen goods and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officials did not release any other details or circumstances surrounding the incident.
