PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Churchland High School in Portsmouth has closed Thursday morning after losing power, officials said.
According to a message from school officials, a transformer went out, causing the building to lose power, internet and phone access. Students went back home Thursday by bus transportation.
A spokesperson for Portsmouth Public Schools said the school is anticipated to return to normal operations on Friday.
Dominion Energy's outage map shows a small outage near the school with an expected restoration between 12 and 3 p.m.
