FRIDAY FLAVOR: Kroger cooks up ideas for your Thanksgiving leftovers

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now it's time to get creative with your holiday feast leftovers.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) — Thanksgiving is over, but it's likely that your fridge is filled with leftovers and now is the time to think outside the pantry.

"Be creative with your leftovers," said Madeline Gilmore, the Catering Events Specialist with Kroger.

Madeline says she has come up with some creative, easy leftover recipes by simply experimenting.

“You would have thought I was a great chef, but it was just an accident that I came up with this,” she laughed.

First up: Thanksgiving leftover wrap.

Gilmore says you should lay out your wrap, and add lettuce, turkey and cranberry sauce.

“You are going to flip that and roll it so it’s best to keep all your ingredients on one side,” said Gilmore.

Next, transform your leftover mashed potatoes into potato pancakes.

“You can do this for breakfast, you can do it for lunch, you can do it for dinner,” said Madeline.

As for a sweet ending touch to your leftover meal — consider making a milkshake with a slice of your leftover pie.

Madeline says you can add milk, ice cream, a slice of your favorite pie. Throw it in a blender, garnish with whipped cream and some cinnamon.

If none of those ideas sound great, Madeline says the internet is full of other ways you can re-invent the leftover meals. She suggests you just Google it for more inspiration.
