VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The ViBe Creative District in Virginia Beach is hosting a festival where 10 new murals will be made in 10 days by 10 artists.
The festival kicks off May 10 and goes through May 19. The public is welcomed to come to view the first ViBe Mural Festival presented by TowneBank.
The artists putting together the murals are local and national. The project allows the artists a 10-day time frame to paint their artwork designs to completion providing the public ample time to explore and meet the artists while they work.
Virginia Beach native Seth Lubaton is participating in the festival and painting his first mural.
"Life is really mundane so it gives you a lot of color and excitement," said Lubaton. "You get to create everything you want, and no one can really tell you too much about it."
A committee handpicked Lubaton and the nine other artists from 110 applicants across the country.
ViBe Creative District was established by a group of individuals and local businesses to attract creative industries to a section of the Virginia Beach oceanfront area that needed revitalizing.
The mission of the district is to promote, support, connect, and inspire the arts and creative industries to boost our local economy, grow jobs, and enhance our quality of life.
