3 people rescued after yacht catches fire miles off coast of Cape Henry, says VBFD and Coast Guard

Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) says that the U.S. Coast Guard requested the assistance of their fireboat crews for a yacht fire around 3:40 a.m. Friday.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — 3 people were rescued by pilot boat after a yacht caught fire off of Cape Henry Friday morning.

Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) says that the U.S. Coast Guard requested the assistance of their fireboat crews for a 75-foot yacht fire three miles off the coast of Cape Henry around 3:40 a.m. 

Three people were picked up by a Hampton Roads pilot boat after they jumped into the water from the recreational boat named 'Motor Vessel Savage'. Emergency Medical Services checked them out and found no injuries.

Virginia Beach Fire Department and the Coast Guard are working to control the fire the boat is still smoldering. It was being towed to Fort Story when it broke off and ended up on the rocks nearby.
