Power outage in Virginia Beach after crash

About 8,000 Dominion Energy customers were without power after a crash at Lynnhaven Parkway and Indian River Road.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Over 8,000 Dominion Energy customers were without power after a crash in Virginia Beach Thursday.

Virginia Beach police dispatch said they received a 911 call about a single-vehicle crash in the intersection of Lynnhaven Parkway and Indian River Road around 8:50 p.m.

The vehicle hit a power box and a utility pole. It caused several downed power lines which impacted traffic lights and neighborhoods in the area.

Dispatch said no one was taken to the hospital.

A spokeswoman with Dominion Energy said they have crews on the scene. She said they expect to have all but 93 customer's power on by 10:30 p.m. The remaining customers will have to wait until repairs can be completed.
