Virginia Beach firefighters respond to fire near Lynnhaven Mall, around 30 storage units damage

The Virginia Beach Fire Department said the fire was at a commercial building in the 500 block of South Lynnhaven Road, near Sabre Street.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Firefighters were at the scene of a fire at a storage facility near Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach. 

The Virginia Beach Fire Department says that they were dispatched for a report of a structure fire at a "Mini U Storage" in the 500 block of Lynnhaven Parkway around 11:42 p.m. and arrived just about 4 minutes later.

When firefighters arrived they saw heavy smoke coming from storage units. 

The fire was marked under control at 12:13 p.m. and then marked completely out around 1:45 p.m.

One structure with around 30 storage units was affected with minor to major smoke, fire and water damage.

S. Lynnhaven Parkway southbound is closed for the time being, according to the fire department.

No injuries were reported.
