Virginia Beach Oceanfront stores getting ready for summer season

With multiple festivals and attractions coming, this summer is shaping up to be a big one. The return of good weather also means the return of paid parking.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The return of the good weather also means paid parking is coming back. Virginia Beach put on its website that $2 an-hour parking will return to municipal lots, street meters, and public garages by the resorts on April 1st.

You can pay on your phone through apps, text-to-pay, or credit and debit cards. The city’s website says the $2 an hour rate will be in effect at all locations unless it’s high demand or special events. It'll be in place until October 31st.

With plenty of festivals and attractions, Virginia Beach’s oceanfront brings big business to the area during the summer.

“It’s the best time of year. the water is warm. We get good waves and it’s you know it’s just a lot more fun.” Wes Laine, Manager at Coastal Edge tells me.

The surf shop on 21st Street is one of the many staples on the oceanfront. With spring in its early stages and summer right around the corner, Laine says the energy in the area is exciting and infectious.

“There's good weather, good waves, and you know, the influx of people coming to the beach and that's what we look forward to every spring,” Laine said.
