An 11-year-old succumbed to his injuries following an ATV crash Friday in Elizabeth City, North Carolina

Elizabeth City deputies responded to an ATV crash in the 1300 block of Lynch's Corner Road.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — An 11-year-old succumbed to his injuries on Friday after being involved in an ATV crash, authorities said.

Pasquotank Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 1300 block of Lynch’s Corner Road, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina around 4 p.m. Friday.

The juvenile was last seen operating the ATV by himself around 3 p.m. Friday. The juvenile’s family began looking for him around 4 p.m. and quickly located him, immediately calling for help, deputies said. The Newland Volunteer Fire Department and Pasquotank-Camden EMS quickly arrived on the scene followed by deputies with the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office.

Further investigation revealed the juvenile was not wearing a helmet or seatbelt and the ATV had rolled over on its left side, pinning the juvenile underneath.

The 11-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.
