The power company confirmed that an outage Saturday afternoon was due to a fire nearby a substation that serves 4183 Lankford Highway, where the McDonald's in Exmore is located.

EXMORE, Va. (WVEC) - A reported fire at a McDonald's restaurant on Lankford Highway in Exmore is the suspected cause of a power outage in the Exmore region.

The Exmore Police Department said late Saturday afternoon, July 23, that there was a report of a fire about 6 p.m. at the McDonald's, and that the possible cause was tied to an electrical transformer, although details were not immediately available.

No injuries had been reported, according to the department.

Meanwhile, a service representative at the A&N Electric Co-op confirmed that a power outage about the same time Saturday afternoon was due to a fire nearby a substation that serves 4183 Lankford Highway, where the McDonald's in Exmore is located.

The number of A&N customers impacted by the outage was not available Saturday evening.

No one answered the phone at the restaurant late Saturday.
