On Thursday around 5:00 p.m., James City County Police responded to an alarm at Citizens & Farmers Bank in the 7500 block of Richmond Road.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — A woman has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies after robbing a bank, according to a press release from James City County.

On Thursday around 5:00 p.m., James City County Police responded to an alarm at Citizens & Farmers Bank in the 7500 block of Richmond Road.

The suspect fled on foot into the woods behind the bank before police got to the scene.

A detailed suspect description was compiled and a thorough search of the area started. At 5:30 p.m., law enforcement found a pedestrian matching the suspect's description near the Richmond and Croaker Roads intersection.

19-year-old Katherine Esposito of James City County was identified as the suspect. Police say Esposito went into the bank and handed an employee a note stating that the bank was being robbed and that she had a firearm and a bomb. She stole thousands of dollars and left the bank. She was found by police shortly after and the cash was recovered.

She was arrested and taken in for questioning at the Law Enforcement Center.

After an interview with detectives, Esposito was charged with felonies of robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and threats to bomb or damage buildings. She was denied bond and taken to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
