Navy participates in 'Battle of the Rig' competition

Alpha Warrior creates obstacle courses for the military, and it's the first time they are working with the Navy.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Sailors at Naval Station Norfolk broke a sweat in a fun way on Tuesday.

Alpha Warrior creates obstacle courses for the military, and it's the first time they are working with the Navy. The course -- similar to American Ninja Warrior -- is designed to force servicemen and women to push their strength.

Three-time American Ninja Warrior Barclay Stockett showed sailors what to expect.

"This is a very cognitive course, you have to be mentally on. There's so many different paths that you can take. You have to be able to adapt if something goes wrong," she said.

Sailors have five minutes to complete the course.

"It takes so much strength that you're not used to working on. You don't normally hang from your fingertips. But that could be important one day," Stockett said.

The course will stay at the gym so sailors can continue to work on their strength in a fun way. Stockett says the goal is to have all branches of the military compete against each other.
