'Inside Out' portrait installation coming to Hampton Roads and they need your photos

It’s a series of portraits from funny to serious. Project leaders are focusing on the military.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A major, portrait installation is coming to Hampton Roads and the group responsible wants your picture to be a part of it.

It’s called the Inside Out project.

It’s a series of portraits from happy to funny to serious. It was founded in 2011 by a French street artist and has grown worldwide.

“It’s a fascinating, worldwide, one of a kind, global art project,” group leader Bobby Levin said. “There have been approximately 1,800 installations in 142 countries around the world.”

This is the first time it’s coming to Hampton roads – and they need models.

Levin is set up at Haynes Furniture in Virginia Beach ready to snap your picture.

You can get your picture taken Saturday and Monday from 9 a.m. to noon, or Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon.

For this version of the project, Levin wants to capture portraits of military members and their families to pay tribute to the sacrifices they make.

“When women and men are deployed, I believe there’s one very solid brotherhood or sisterhood, and they bond. But those that are left here I would say are equally as courageous,” he said.

"Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children, grandparents – come and have your picture taken and express yourself.”

The move-poster-sized portraits will be installed on the wall outside Haynes in April.
