New leader for Carrier Air Wing 7

Capt. Samuel J. Paparo will relieve Capt. Roy J. Kelley in Thursday's change of command at NAS Oceana.

VA. BEACH -- The Navy will hold a change of command ceremony Thursday for Carrier Air Wing 7, assigned to USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Capt. Samuel J. Paparo will relieve Capt. Roy J. Kelley at NAS Oceana.

Paparo, an F/A-18 Super Hornet pilot, has served as deputy air wing commander since October 2009.

Kelley is leaving Va. Beach for California as Chief of Staff to Commander, Naval Air Forces in San Diego.

CVW 7 consists of eight aircraft squadrons which includes F/A-18C/E/F Hornets and Super Hornets, E-2C Hawkeye airborne command and control aircraft, EA-6B Prowler electronic warfare aircraft, H-60F/H Sea Knight helicopters, and C-2A Greyhounds.

There are approximately 1,500 officer and enlisted personnel in the wing.
